The third edition of the Mediterranean Wetlands Outlook (MWO-3), titled “Mediterranean Wetlands: Responses to ongoing Crises”, was officially launched during Ramsar COP15 in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe (23–31 July 2025). Developed by the Mediterranean Wetlands Observatory (MWO) in collaboration with partners across the 28 MedWet countries, this regional report offers an updated diagnosis of wetland status and trends based on 18 indicators following the DPSIR framework.

Findings highlight continued degradation—particularly wetland loss, ecological decline, and disrupted hydrological connectivity—alongside rising vulnerability to climate extremes. The report also outlines existing policy responses and opportunities for improvement.

Presented during a dedicated session at COP15, MWO-3 served as a platform for dialogue among Contracting Parties, researchers, and civil society, reinforcing the science-policy interface and supporting informed, coordinated action for wetland conservation.

MWO-3 sends a clear message: safeguarding wetlands is essential to achieving sustainable development in the Mediterranean.
