MAW launches a Red Alert for the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve
A proposed expansion of the Guggenheim Museum threatens the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve — a key stopover site on the East Atlantic Flyway. Despite a local listening process, the project remains vague and lacks transparency, raising serious concerns for biodiversity and wetland protection.
New action:
- An international manifesto is now open for expert signatures in defence of Urdaibai’s biodiversity.
- Three joint letters to Ramsar, UNESCO, and the Spanish Ministry are also open for organisational signatures.
The campaign will launch on 19 May, International Museum Day. Alliance communication officers are invited to support the campaign. Let us know if you’d like to join the coordination meeting.
Let’s act together to keep Urdaibai — and the flyway — protected.
