White Stork Census (Batna province – Algeria)

A counting operation encompassing the entire Batna Wilaya, involving the ANAO association and the Hunters’ Federation of Batna took place to record the White Stork population in the Batna province. Counts were conducted at various locations to survey the nests in the area. Engaging with local residents helped us locate the nests of white storks. The census took place over two months: June and July 2024. A total of 1,311 nests were recorded in Batna Wilaya, with 1,178 occupied and 113 empty. These nests were spread across 20 dairas that were visited, covering a total of 90 localities.
