Since 2011, the German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN) has hosted a series of “European Conferences on Biodiversity and Climate Change” in cooperation with the European Network of Heads of Nature Conservation Agencies (ENCA Network). The aim of series of conferences is to strengthen the interface between science, policy and practice and to promote exchange and networking between experts from all over Europe.
The MAW Secretariat attended the conference and presented posters of the Green Light Protocol and its first implementation site and the ‘Wetlands4MediterraneanResilience initiative. In addition, the Mediterranean Wetlands Observatory was presented by Tour du Valat, as a member of MAW’s Secretariat.
This year’s theme focused on the role and significance of wetlands, particularly in river floodplains and coastal regions for biodiversity conservation, as well as climate change mitigation and adaptation.
